Quick confession: I kinda like the 500L. My dealer has a leftover 2014 Trekking with manual and all the goodies... for $16,500(MSRP is over $23,500). They also have 0% financing for 72 months available and $1000 cash back. According to the payment estimator, with $500 down (my Volvo?) my payments would be about $219 a month! That's less than $20 more than my lease on the Civic! Is that crazy cheap or what!?

I kind of like the way it looks too, but dang, that unreliability. Supposedly they are massively unreliable. Like "give Land Rover a run for its money" kind of unreliability.

Have you factored in tax? How about registration costs? Insurance changes?

That's what I've heard as well.. but it would have a warranty still...
And obviously they are depreciating like crazy

I'm not sure if the stick version has the same problem as the auto, but these are already becoming known for their bad transmissions and other quality problems.Personally, I would hold off for the X.

I really hate the 500L, but I live in a country blessed with the rest of the Fiat range. I haven't been in or driven one, though. Test drive it. If it's a proper Fiat, you'll buy it because it's so much fun. If it's not so much fun that you can't even consider not buying it, don't bother.
Does the warranty last as long as the loan?

Have you driven it?
It's abysmal. The steering isn't connected to the wheels (or barely), the engine is adequate at best, the manual transmission is very, very imprecise and sluggish and the whole thing drive like it's on rotten stilts.
test-drive one before, or even better, wait for the 500X. It's on a different platform, and if recent reports of the Renegade are anything to go by, it will be pretty sweet.

I was wondering about something like that. If it depreciates quick enough, I wonder how bad the problems really are. Doing a quick read, it seems like people didn't like the infotainment center and the transmission shifted in ways they didn't expect. As long as it keeps shifting, I'd say that's fine. Seems to get reasonable fuel economy.
I'm currently looking for a 4-door replacement for my wife's 2-door car, as getting the baby seat in/out isn't the easiest. It's amazing when you start looking for things that have 4 doors, enough space for a large jogging stroller, and fuel economy on par or better than a Cavalier - your options quickly dwindle.

Why not wait for this...

4 doors? Big space? Fuel Economy? Sir you need a Cube/Soul/xB.

I'm not going to be getting anything now anyway.. I prefer the X a lot honestly but it just seemed like a really great deal to me at least .. But now I hear all these issues and maybe it isn't.

Not enough room behind the rear seats. The jogging stroller is.... huge.
I'm thinking more wagon.

A 500L tempting? What is happenning to OPPO?
